New fire station approved
Voters approved plans for a new fire station and improvements to the existing station, as a fire district bond ordinance was approved on Aug. 26 by a vote of 264 to 242.
The results of the election are official and include all absentee and write-in votes, according to Bob Dougherty, chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners.
The bond ordinance will appropriate $5.5 million in funds for the construction of a new station to replace the outdated station on South Burnt Mill Road. Also, it will increase the fire tax by about $36 for residents with an average assessed home of about $300,000.
